There ain't no such thing! Take it back!! Take it back right now!!!

I think the longer I'm here, the tighter I hold onto using "ya'll"... after all, the Swiss German folks have their own version of that word anyhow, ain't that right, "euch"?

Ehem..

"euch" is high-German. The counterpart you're loking for is "eui" (for züri at least), though I think the feel would be better attributed to "zäme" (zusammen in German), though neither are really used with the same frequency or tone as "y'all"...

Eitherway, I understand hanging onto the quirks of dialects that make the language your own, especially when surrounded by non-native speakers.

But, the response was to this being compared to "upscale NY writing"... my own opinion of the quality of the writing aside, this is in no way NY anything; it's about as deep south as you can get in every way (aside from the fact that it's not actually about the deep south).

Edit: I just got the NY confusion... it's a cheap attempt to emulate "sex and the city" by using "Mr. Big" to refer to her husband... or so I'm told. I can call myself Mr. Goldstein... does that make me a German-Jewish banker?
