Aha, the ever evasive English Muffins. I have had sucess finding them in 3 places
1. At Neukauf a small supermarket, Waldshuterstrasse 17, Jestetten. Just over the border near Schaffhausen. They were pretty good and the most like English muffins.
2. At Aldi at Volkeswil, south end of Greifensee. These were really tasty dunkel brot. Not so traditional.
3. My local Coop, Wallisellen. These were also dunkel brot and had pumpernikel flavour.
My favorites were the ones from Aldi.
