| Re: Very cheap Swiss health insurance for students & researchers
Hi all,
Thanks for the very useful thread! For the record, I used to be a foreign student in Geneva, with a B permit, and I was using GoldenCare without problems. My status has recently changed and I am a post-doc working for a UK university, based at CERN. That means I am under a carte de légitimation, and that the LAMal requirements don't apply to me (as mentionned by the GoldenCare person on the phone). So I am now shopping for insurance for Carte de Légitimation holders in Geneva. If any of you has useful input (like possible companies and deals), I'd be happy to hear it. For the moment, I know that GoldenCare can take me back, for about twice the premium I used to pay as a student....
In the meantime, I wanted to inform you about Swisscare. I tried to switch to them, given that they provide insurance also for foreign researchers, but they inform me that I couldn't join them due to the time I spent already in Switzerland (I arrived in Sept. 2005). This is unfortunately not mentionned on their website, so beware when comparing prices!
Hope this helps, Andrée
