Re: iPhone in Switzerland

Hi Pat,

that looks like a great phone. I have the HTC Kaiser with the slide out keyboard and tiltable screen, Highspeed internet connection is great over HPSDA and 3G. However, even though I don't thin apple iphone is that useful as a phone I do now an ipod touch which I use for web browsing. It is first Apple product which I have actually thought is more substance than style and there are no contract charges and there are a lot of wifi hotspots. I also found that that the touch keyboard it really only useful for typing short things such as urls. I am a lot faster and more accurate using the slide out keyboard on the HTC phone.

Apple might get it right by the 2nd or 3rd generation phone but they are still being beaten on specs and performance by existing phones.

Personally I would definitely suggest the ipod touch over the phone, it is certainly a damn sight cheaper(though still over priced in Switzerland) and there are ways of getting the missing apps running on the device...I am not really using much of the ipod functionality..the sound quality is worse than my existing mp3 player and I am not a great fan of itunes or the store. Also the lack of volume buttons is a pain...why should I have to look at the device.

Have fun

Martin
