Re: How to strip wax from furniture?

I'm looking to strip wax from old oak furniture to revarnish it.

Any idea if wax remover is available in Switzerland and if so, what it it called in the German speaking part of the world?

Thanks
For sure you can get various solvents that will remove wax, not least the special wax remover used for ski servicing. Whether that would be suitable or not for furniture I have no idea, but some years ago stripped oak was the rage in the UK, and the norm at that point was to remove not just the wax, but the accrued dirt and patina as well, from old furniture. I think acid baths were sometimes used, but the normal home method was a sander and a wire brush.
