Re: Hirslanden Klinik Maternity reviews please?

I had my first baby at Hirslanden in January. I cannot speak more highly of the hospital, it's facilities and the staff and agree with others that it was like a five star hotel. All the staff were fantastic and helpful, always coming to see if I needed anything and giving me advice on how to make sure I was doing everything right, from comforting him to taking his temperature. I decided to breastfeed, and a Lactation specialist saw me the day after the birth, again giving me some great techniques to use. (In the 6 months since, I haven't had any problems with feeding him, which I feel was because of the thorough care I was given). I was encouraged to feed him every three to four hours, which is what I had planned to do. One night after spending what seemed like hours feeding him, a nurse actually weighed him before and after a feed to make sure he was getting enough (he was!)

I also had a physio come and give me gentle exercises to do in the initial days and weeks after the delivery. They also offer classes, such as how to wash your baby all of which was invaluable and made taking our new born son home less daunting, especially as we don't have our family for support.

I do, however, have one complaint. During the c-section my son's clavicle was broken. Apparently this can happen due to the pressure of pulling and tugging him out, especially as he was quite a large baby. It has since resulted in months of physiotherapy. I am happy to report he is fine now
