To a certain extent (especially cutting price of phone in US) you could argue this is market segmentation. By now the ubergeeks have all unloaded their wallets and they want to target the next ones down the food chain. However the retroactive price reduction is a little strange. Maybe something to do with people using them in a way that isn't optimal for O2 profits?
