Re: Liestal Fastnacht information

Hi,

I want to attend the Fastnacht near Basel this year. Unfortunately I'm having difficulty translating websites that talk about it. Anyone know more details. I.E. What time it starts, what city it's in, what days it is?

Thanks!
It starts on the Sunday evening before Basel's Fasnacht. It is called Chienbaese, and is absolutely insane. It's a parade of fire. Folks walk down the street carrying these bundles of wood that are aflame. Additionally, there are wagons filled with burning wood that are hauled down the main street of the Altstadt. I've only seen it on TV (on TeleBasel).

I think it starts at about 7PM or so.

During the week, Liestal also has a more traditional cortege parade. I think it is on Monday afternoon.
