Re: www.tvcatchup.com

Thanks for that lobd.

ref: audio off sync
Agreed.

I have just watched online (using Firefox) my recording of the BBC 2 programme "Paradise or Bust", from last night and the audio was slightly out of sync with the video, by a very few milliseconds. The audio came slightly sooner than it should.

This was also the case when I downloaded and directly played (i.e. no internet connection involved) the same tv recording via the means I have already described in this thread (i.e. orbitdownloader and FLV Player).

I assume the problem is to do with the current flv encoding settings that tvcatchup uses. They need to either fix that or use another, better, encoding format.

The problem is reported on the TVCatchup Forums > Bug Report

Example: someone reported "Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares was out by around 10 seconds, plus squarks."

Oh well, I expect they will solve it one day, soon ??

Also my recording was cut short and so the whole programme wasn't fully recorded. The last few minutes are missing.
I assume this is because the TV schedule said one thing - which tvcatchup used - and the actual broadcast started later than it should have done. Again on their forum people are suggesting the recordings start sooner, and stop recording later in order to try and handle this.

For anyone who is interested if tvcatchup is legal, even for users in the UK (!) you could take a look at the discussion thread here:
