KateB and JulieT, thanks for the updates.
I will try and find out what happened at the SABIS crunch meeting with the corporate investors that took place in Lausanne. Haven't yet heard any feedback from my people so I will ask.
Re SABIS, the google searches that I did threw up some negative commentary about the amount of regular testing that they put their pupils through. When I spoke to the ISF director about this she defended the policy on the basis that the kids get used to it and when the important exams come along it's no big deal. Also she explained that the rigid curriculum where every teacher knows in advance exactly what is going to be taught in each lesson of the school term means that the teachers can concentrate on the teaching and not on the lesson planning and admin that takes up so many other teachers' time in other on-SABIS schools.
The impression I got from my visit to ISF is definitely at odds with that created by the negative internet reports. Having said that, I was not able to talk to any children about daily life at ISF or their opinions of the continuous testing. But it did look like a vibrant, happy, modern school.
I will look out for news of the ISM school at Rolle.
By the way, I applied to ISL and ISG in Nov 07 to have my two children commence in Sep 08. I have received notifications from both of them telling me that I do not have any hope of getting them in for the Sep 08 start. Sep 09 might be more realistic.
I guess that, unless your employer is Nestle, Philip Morris, Tetrapak or Logitech (the main ISL sponsors) there is no hope !
Oh well.....
