We were out around the countryside (15km south of Basel) on the weekend. There's (painted on-road) bicycle lanes on most of the roads. It was a beautiful sunny day on Saturday, and hundreds of (road) bikers were out, even a few peletons of up to 10 people. So I'd say there's plenty of places to ride, and no-doubt you could probably get in some good hill training

So I'd say for sure there's bicycle clubs, but I personally don't know of any. I've only been living near Basel since winter though, but as it gets warmer more and more people are cycling about.

I love to ride, but I try not to talk about it, since it becomes clean that I have a cycling obsession.

I don't so much go in for road racing though, prefer bicycle touring, although the kids are now a bit to big to be towed in the trailer, but can't ride (touring distances) on their own bikes. So I'm at a bit of a loss.
