But the crap thing about that race is the season is already too cold.
If you're such a climbing masochist you should think about popping down south of the border for next year's Maratona in the Dolomites. The three courses are:

55 km/1780m elevation gain
106 km/3090 " "
138 km/4190 " "

You can apply for the draw online, and it's in July, so you don't need to worry about the cold.

Also, you should check out the Lake Geneva region for a ride sometime. We've got a fair few 1500+m mountain passes within riding distance of Lausanne, and the Haute Savoie region is a 25-min boat ride across the Lake.
