What I mean by the ¨culture¨remark is that in the US we tend to have a lot more friends and acquaintances, so we always have a big pool of people to choose from; whereas, here the people have about 4-5 true diehard friends. Its just different, but I know what you're saying. Thanks for the advice.

"... coming from a culture where you always have at least 10 people to call for fun..." I really don't think that is cultural; you've moved that's all! And like all of us here, you need to create a new life for yourself.
