There is a place not far from Basel which also does this (in Laufen) - www.sportshopkarrer.ch - I've used them before and they're very good.

Any other recommendations? Season hire is usually excellent value and you have the option to either return the skis or buy them out after a period.

Thanks for the tip. Am I understanding it correctly from their english price list that i can rent skies and boots for the season (one week after easter) for less than 300 franc? (Promotion Ski 198CHF and Comfort Boot 100CHF)

That seems like really good value. I think i'll take this up for my first season of skiing over here.
Also what happens if a ski or boots breaks (somehow) whilst during the season. are you insured against this?
