Hi, don't know if this is of any help but all the way around lake zurich are a fair number of rowing clubs.

Look under the main rowing federation website and follow the link for CH- Club-Index. This lists all clubs so you should be able to find one near you.

I recently joined a club in Staeffa, I find that they do sculling more than "rowing" here and they ran a very good course for beginners to sculling (I am more used to traditional eights rowing)- all in German but basically you get in a boat and try not to fall out or knock someone out right (!) so it doesn't matter what language they speak if you ask me.

Have fun rowing, 8am, flat mirror lake, alps are out, rowing along, it doesn't get better....
