Thanks for "organizing" this, litespeed. You may not have been up for the ride, but without you making the plan we wouldn't have had the great ride on Sunday, which was idyllic (which is why I gave you a "Thanks" for the above post, not because you pulled out).
As hillseeker said, I did some of the map reading, but our true guide was a retired Swiss guy called Bruno in a campervan. We met him and his wife twice along our route, and he told us stories of being an ex-pro racer and riding all of the passes when they were just gravel roads, and gave us tips on which roads to follow (then proceeded to catch up to us and cheer us on during the next climb). These days, it seems that he likes to chat to cyclists at the top of the local passes and take his camper van to watch the Tour de France and Giro d'Italia whenever he can. Some day, I wanna be like Bruno
