| Re: How do speeding fines work in Switzerland?
The police in the USA are not as predatory as the Switzerland police appear to be. While I believe that the primary use of cameras for speed enforcement is to raise revenue it is the police officer who enforces the laws. When they see that a citizen has gone to the trouble to try to defeat the system they look at it as the person being inventive and they applude the effort. That I think is the reason that althought I have been stopped by the police since I put the photoshield on my car none have said that I should remove them or cited me for an illegal attachment to my license plate.
Wheather the plastic film works or not is inmaterial. I have seen all the TV programs and read most of the reports in the auto magazines. If I were paranoid I would say the they are publishing those reports and videoing those test runs to discourage people from buying the products. But I can only go on my experience and that is I have not got a photo citation in 6+ years that I have been using the shields. I'm convinced.
The USA license tag is more rectangular than those is Europe and most of us use a metal license plate cover that has a clear plastic film to cover the license plate and protect it from mud, etc. so it is easy to substitute the photoshield for the plastic cover and the plastic film fits neatly inside the cover. I can see where the Euro plate would be more difficult to cover with the film. Although the law in the USA is nothing may obstruct the view of the license plate on autos I have never seen it enforced. And many states here only use a rear plate so those with only one plate will often get out of photo citations as many cameras are overhead and take photos of the driver and front of the car.
So why not use the spray on film? I've never tried it but it is even less conspicious that the shield, it is highly reflective clear spray. On their website they recommend using both the spray and the shield. Maybe that is a marketing ploy.
