One of the great pleasures of living in Switzerland is the possibility of a car free life. After three years here my body and bank account are all the better for it. Finding a second hand bike that you dont mind leaving locked out on street in all weather can be a pain though. That's where the Veloboerse comes in handy. It's basically a market run by IG Velo the bicycle advocacy group, where they take a commission on each bike sold, and you get some confidence that you are buying a non-stolen and roadworthy bike. The first markets of the season are on Saturday 1st April. I have been to the one in Helvetiaplatz, 8004 Zurich before and it usually has a good range available (beaters to race machines). The following link has a list of other Veloboersen for Saturday.
