Everything faster than that will go to court, I think. The other sanctions in the list are slightly off the mark and outdated when it comes to jail.

Higher fines are often determined by a number of "Tagessatz" fines. A Tagessatz is 1-3000 Fr. depending on the speeders financial and personal situation. According to Road Cross, these are the new penalties introduced in 2007:

Quote:
Zu schnell in Tempo-30-Zonen 16 bis 17 km/h 400 Fr. Busse
18 bis 19 km/h 600 Fr. Busse
20 bis 24 km/h 10 Tagessätze Geldstrafe
25 bis 29 km/h 15 Tagessätze
30 bis 34 km/h 20 Tagessätze
ab 35 km/h mindestens 30 Tagessätze

Zu schnell innerorts
16 bis 20 km/h 400 Fr. Busse
21 bis 24 km/h 600 Fr. Busse
25 bis 29 km/h 10 Tagessätze
30 bis 34 km/h 15 Tagessätze
35 bis 39 km/h 20 Tagessätze
ab 40 km/h mindestens 30 Tagessätze

Zu schnell auf Autobahnen
26 bis 30 km/h 400 Fr. Busse
31 bis 34 km/h 600 Fr. Busse
35 bis 39 km/h 10 Tagessätze
40 bis 44 km/h 15 Tagessätze
45 bis 49 km/h 20 Tagessätze
ab 50 km/h mindestens 30 Tagessätze
The absolutely highest punishment for speeding is 3 years imprisionment (law). There was a case of a repeat offender who drove 145 km/h in a 60 km/h limit, he was sentenced to 12 months unconditional plus 12 months conditional imprisionment even though nobody was hurt in his crash.

Also the driving license will be revocated (source):

Quote:
Speeding within town limits
  • 16 - 20 km/h - only a warning if there was no offense in the last two years (Art. 16a SVG)
  • 21 - 24 km/h - revocation for at least 1 month (gem. Art. 16b SVG)
  • 25 km/h and faster - revocation for at least 3 months (Art. 16c SVG)
Speeding out of town
  • 21 - 25 km/h - only a warning if there was no offense in the last two years (Art. 16a SVG)
  • 26 - 29 km/h - revocation for at least 1 month (Art. 16b SVG)
  • 30 km/h and faster - revocation for at least 3 months (Art. 16c SVG)
Speeding on motorways
