I moved from London to Zurich for similar gross salary. Although I was given a decent rellocation allowance it's definitely been cheaper to live here than London.

Huge saving on income tax, no council tax, cheaper rent and transport costs. OK, you pay an extra tenner for your weekly shop and eating/drinking out costs a couple of quid more but so what?

Although I also like snowboarding and the outdoor lifestyle, and that was one of the main reasons for moving here, I don't think I would go back to London unless it was for a significant pay rise.
