Re: Basel Bars and Hot Spots...where should newbies go?

Hi,
I just moved to Basel and I'm looking to meet new people; bars where you can get a good, inexpensive drink and meal, meet friendly people (possibly ones who like to climb, hike, camp), enjoy good music, and learn about Basel. It is up to the experienced Basel-ers to help! Any recommendations? Share where it is, bus/tram/train lines, entertainment and why it is so good!
Cheers!

Basel is an expensive city, as are all Swiss cities. You will not find bars that sells good, inexpensive drinks and meals anywhere in the city centres. I advise keeping up with and attending suitable social events advertised on this forum. As for eating and drinking, once you know people then if you could arrange some of these done from different people's places then it would work out cheaper.

Note that there is a meet-up tonight (23 Aug 2008) in the Nelson at 9pm. Google "Basel Nelson" and click on the map for directions. Hope you see this in time and can make it.
