I used to live in Kloten and there we had a wood shop open to the public - part of the Vereinigung Freizeit Kloten. You had to go to an introductory class (next one is Sept. 3) and thereafter you could use the work shop for CHF 8 (CHF 3 to use the room, CHF 5 to use the machines). If you live in Kloten, you're lucky - you can go do your work there - they have a complete wood shop set-up - it's nice. Probably there are other communities that offer something similar.
