What we and friends have learned is that it pays off to wait for that business or leisure visit to the US to do the mother of all shopping. Price differentials are so huge, especially before the 10% gain the USD managed the past 2 weeks over the CHF, that it even pays off, if you are not flying business, to pay for extra luggage [ 100 USD for 50 pounds is CHEAP! ].
When flying business, it is Nirvana as airlines treat you like royalty even if you have extra luggage and excess weight.
When it comes to expensive items, it frankly now pays off to get a $500 RT ticket to the US to shop only. All it takes is $500 worth of stuff to break even.
