Hope my answer is not too late. I think you should be able to renew your L Permit without any difficulty. I went to query about L Permit to the local authority and I was told that before the current L Permit expires, if I can find a new employer or a new contract with the current emplyor, I can renew my L Permit easily. I could be worng but that's what I was told two days ago.
