Thanks, I'll check into it. And even though we've lived abroad before, we've not actually MOVED a household before, so this is a new experience. Always before we took as much clothing, books, etc. as we could on the plane and lived in furnished accomodation.

I know it's a balancing act between what to bring over and what to buy here, but of course the more you look at the prices here, the more appealing it seems to ship things over.

If your employer here is paying for you to ship furniture over, in most cases this is a better deal than the money they will give you in lieu of shipping which will likely not replace what you have. But it very much depends on what furniture you have back in your home country and whether it will fit in your new place and assuming what kind of place you rent here, if they can get the items through the door, and up the stairs, or in the lift.
