sorry to derail slightly but has anyone made their own bagels? (argus?)
i always wondered how easy (or hard) it is...
I have baked bagels. It was not too difficult. I thought they weren't great but they disappeared. The members of my family will eat anything .

I make chicken soup on a regular basis as I cannot buy any commercial soups because I am allergic to MSG (E 621) and most soups contain that. (I can find tomato soup without MSG). The chicken stock can be used for other recipes. I can't use onion on account of the dogs (I always freeze some soup in case one of the dogs is sick and onion is no good for dogs). Chicken soup is really easy to make and freezes well. The best recipe I have is from Japan, of all places. It calls for putting mushrooms in the soup. Strange but true. Clear soup is boring. You can buy egg noodles that cook quickly and them add them to the soup, or wild rice goes nicely. I take all the chicken off the bones and put it back in the soup so it is a meal.
