Re: Swiss German word/Idiom of the day: "Sauglocke laute lasse"."

This phrase was in a book "Christmas Stories from Zurich Oberland (from 1920) ". My library swiss-dialect dictionaries had no info on it. Literally translated it means "Ringing the Pig's bell" and it is said in a restaurant context. Apparently, it refers to misbehavior by a guest, i.e. he identifies himself as being pig-like.

The term has come into disuse, it took multiple polls of older locals to resolve it. Another term no longer used by the young is "allpot", which means "always".
