Place I was going to move to fell through (don't ask!) so need to find a place to start in 2 weeks.

As this will be temporary, I don't mind condition so much and may be taking a place sight unseen.

I was wondering if there is a general minimum contract term since I hope to move into something more permanent after, say, 3 months of house hunting.

Also, what can I do to minimise problems regarding extortionate 'cleaning charges' after leaving - which based on some other posts here could well double my rent if it is short!
