Well, after a very long silence I received a Mahnung ("reminder", but with bad connotations) from my health insurance provider yesterday for these payments. I snapped and immediately phoned them (in German). The woman claimed that her computer was down and that she would call me back -- I have heard this before.

However, she actually called back early this morning. After reviewing my file and the information that I provided they have decided to drop the charges. I wish I had this in writing though.
