I was rather shocked and sad to read about the death of Natasha Richardson, who apparently suffered a head injury during a skiing lesson on a nursery slope in Quebec. It was stated that she was not wearing a helmet at the time.

Of course, it's probably too early to know the exact cause of her death and whether a helmet would have saved her.

But it does raise the question - do you wear a helmet when skiing or snowboarding? If not, why not?
