Hi, again I had problem with CSS for a friend who is 33 year old student. They dont accept him and invited him to find another solution.
But after calling with two different Swiss companies "Sanitas" and "Groupe Mutuel, they told me that CSS has to accept me. This is the Swiss law LAMal without conditions.
I tried to find out if the studentcare plan is so properly as said from his employee here Jenny (who profit to do professional promotion for CSS here... is that legal in this Forum ?).
Manrisk employee (independent agent) said that this student insurance is not in accordance with the Swiss law OAMal 2.4. The law said that students can only be exempted from the LAMal if they can proof that the foreign company offers at minimum an equivalent coverage. Otherwise they are forced to go in a Swiss state insurance. Goldencare work with AXA, an insurance company outside of Switzerland, and for this reason it is accepted by the cantonal authorities. Or TradiConsult and Swisscare also with international providers outside of Switzerland.
CSS, who is not a company outside of Switzerland, cannot treat differently foreigners and swiss. For this reason is is not legal. However, like Manrisk, the cantons accept exceptionally this product. And also they said that this product is not under the Swiss social health insurance authorities, but the Swiss private insurance authorities which is totally different.
Sanitas and Groupe Mutuel said that it is only a question of time before the product will be stopped.
This story is very strange and when I ask employee of CSS they said always the same... It is accepted by canton and it is official by "Private insurance authorities".
No official information on CSS website, studentcare.ch is not a CSS website and dont work since months... CSS dont have really a clear answer... also they sales the minimum coverage which covers only the canton for CHF 80...
I will profite to inform that a website
www.comparis.ch is very well. Or I find out this plans : Goldencare, TradiConsult Swisscare, GMC, BUPA, IHI... ISIC also can help you !
Good luck !
