Methinks some of us have forgotten how bewildering it is to uproot and move to a country in which the people speak different languages from yours.
I still remember it well: I took a dictionary with me everywhere I went; I didn't go shopping with preconceived expectations of what I'd find; I made mistakes; if a shop didn't sell what I was looking for, I went to a different shop; if I couldn't find a shop that sold something I wanted, I ate something else.

I really don't see how it can be difficult to find bread, flour and milk in a civilised western European country, even if one takes the language barrier into account.
