Bird feeding

I've not found anything yet, but if living in an apartment block, do people get funny about things like bird feeders in the garden (assuming we have one)? I do a fair bit of bird photography and painting and having your subjects on the doorstep is sometimes pretty handy as well as it being nice having birds in the garden, but I don't want to upset the new neighbours.
I know, another strange thread from the man who was asking about jumping the border on a prison breakout-reenactment, but I don't know whether to leave the feeders here or not.
Any ideas/advice/anything welcome!

Tony
