Enough English speaking guests to justify Employment for English speaking Hotelier?

Greetings All,

I'm in a bit of a fix and need some help and advice.

I moved to Zürich 3 months ago and am having an incredibly tough time finding employment.

I am an Hotelier by trade with a BSc in Hospitality Management. My last position was General Manager of a wonderful Resort off the Indian Ocean. During my tenure, the Hotel won 2 Continental awards, Best Hotel and Customer Excellence. I am good at my profession.

I moved to Zürich because my wife is from here, she is Swiss, and wanted to come back home. Perhaps not the best time to give up an excellent position and move overseas, but love does make us do crazy things, does it not ?

As I was well aware that fluency in German was imperative to finding a decent hospitality position, I plunged myself into an intensive Deutsch course, 4 hours a day, 5 days a week for the past 3 months. I speak the language quite a bit and understand even more. But naturally, one cannot become fluent in a foreign language in only 3 months. At least I can't and I'm good at languages, I speak 5.

Money is extremely tight and I can't afford to keep attending language school. Since I have never worked in CH before, I am not entitled to any unemployment, rightfully so.

I am ready to drop my expectations and take almost any back office job simply to keep me going financially while I hope to better my German through client and colleague contact on the job.

Perhaps I'm not looking at the right job sites or in the right places. I am desperatley seeking a position, desperately. I would truly appreciate any help on your behalf.

There are quite a few of us English speakers out here who prefer to converse in English when we frequent bars, restaurants and hotels, when we are the clients. Could you advise me which establishements would hire me based on English as a mother tongue, basic Deutsch, good French and a BSc in Hospitality Management.

Many Many thanks for your time.
