Thanks everyone...this was exactly the information I was hoping for. What about for supermarkets etc in the suburbs...are they well served? Is the SBB station in Renens the end-point or do the trains continue to Geneva airport?? (apologies if this shows my poor geography). Hopefully like you Sam I will end up with something close to the metro line - this would be ideal...fingers crossed - apartment hunting will begin in earnest shortly
