To pick up on a few points more in details:
Charcuterie is an integral part of Swiss food, there is a huge variety of it, each canton has it's own specialites, be it "Lard seche" from Valais, "Graubunder" air dried-beef, etc, etc. Same for cheeses.
Lausanne is in Canton Vaud and it is probably the best area of Switzerland for food, USA Today even felt compelled to write an article about it, you'll find quality meats, charcuteries, saussages, cheeses, the wines are excellent. The cost is higher than in France but if you are paid a Swiss wage, you won't have any problems.
