Re: Basel Dragon Boat rowers wanted

Hey Martin,

I'm new to Basel and would like to take you up on your rowing offer. Is there room for one (possibly two) more this Wednesday (July 29) evening?

I got really excited about boating on the Rhine while on a run. I saw the locals out in the morning in the long "canoes". Do you know what they are called and if one could learn/rent/try them? They were oared by a single oar by a peson standing in the back. To go upriver they had a long shaft with a metal gaft on the end for pushing. I'd love to find out more and in the meantime try rowing with your group!

Thanks so much,
Brian
Hi Brian

Yes I will be there on the 29th July. We do the 20 people in one boat Dragon boat, this is under the munster side of the wetsteinbruke and is great fun. On the 29th is the last day of training for the August the first race day and many people will be there. I would recomend coming the week after as there will be many people on the 29th getting the last minute practice in. Then it will be more relaxed and more fun.
On the single punt boats on the other side of the river this ia called the rudder club. mostly training I believe is in German, so If your language is up to scratch this will be ok.
Any other questions, please ask.
