| Thanks Evilshell!  Actually I was a bit shocked re. the Basel couple's decision as I was sure he would talk her into staying because of his job. Also I noted there didn't seem to be any mention as to whether she spoke German or not, which would have made a huge difference to her experience. | |

I was surprised, too. It was probably a big mistake for them to leave, at least in this climate. But on the other hand, I understand where she was coming from. Living in a small village outside of Basel it is hard to integrate, even when you do speak German. I had some friends who did that a few years back, they couldn't take the village life anymore, even though the wife spoke quite good German.
