My girly circle has spent many an hour heatedly debating the over-the-knee boot look which seems to be launching this fall. Hmmm:

As for the tights, yes yes ! opaque with boots, and slightly transparent with heels. But checkers ? mmmm only for the very slim, not a good idea otherwise, unless you want to look short legged.
