Can anyone explain how registering as Wochenaufenthalt person works? I guess it means someone who works and sleeps in one location during the week, and stays in another gemeinde and/or kanton on the weekend. (Or maybe merely travelling somewhere during the day is enough?).

Reason being I might fit into this catagory, and I wonder how it affects tax. Will taxation be carried out in both kantons or only in the one where your main/important place of residence is?

I have the impression only one kanton counts as your main place of residence, but if so, what is the point of this whole Wochenaufenthalt invention? If you declare yourself as one, do you then have two places of residence, and will you have to pay garbage tax for example in both, since you are a drain on two systems? It is also important for other things, like if you have to live under the same roof as a partner for certain types of insurances....
