| Can anyone point me in the right direction with regards to a heavy steam iron for doing shirts at a reasonable price. I am not looking for one of those new fangled all in one systems, just a decent heavy steam iron. | |

My iron broke today, though it is still under warranty. It is a Braun and just over a year old. It has been sent off for repair through Interdiscount so in the meantime I will have to use my very ancient Laura Star magic...still running after 10 years.

I think that is the kind of thing you don't want (ironing system with a special board). But I have to say that ironing shirts with a basic steam iron is more work. If the shirts are damp, it will be easier but you will still need to keep filling the iron. What you might want to consider is the steam ironing systems that work with a basic ironing board. If you buy a basic steam iron, look for one with a built in anti calc system. Calc is the enemy to all appliances here. That is the advantage of the Laura Star system-no need to worry about calc. If I win a lottery, I will buy this.
