Just in case anyone else is interested....

I rang our local Gemeinde and they also run a course. However, the course started in August so it's too late to join now. The next one starts in April. While it is mostly mothers/women attending, the courses are open to anyone. And I don't think you have to live in the community (although that might be up to the relevant Gemeinde).
