For your tax bill, apparently it depends on which canton you live. We moved from one canton to another the same year we got married, and the treatment was different. One canton had a one-year lag before we were taxed as a couple - meaning the first year of our marriage, we were still taxed separately - while it turns out the other treated and taxed us as married immediately.
