I don't see it like that at all.

On the GPS all the datapoints are there. If the POI is in your database you will be warned when you drive past.

With the radio system they broadcast one maybe two camera locations at each traffic report. You need to be lucky enough to hear the traffic report, and the cameras reported need to be in the area you are driving.

So I could drive from Flums to Zurich. There is sometimes a speed camera in the last tunnel at Wallensee. If I have a GPS warning it will remind me of a potential camera every time I drive past. If I rely on the radio someone will have needed to report that camera in a short period of time before I have arrived, reported it and that camera get announced on the radio. You need to be fairly lucky.

I hear the reports numerous times a day and they have only been relevant to my journey on 2 maybe 3 occasions. The GPS would have warned me of every camera if I had it. Big difference in my book.
I see your point. Luck is a major part of the radio broadcast.

Backing up a few posts looking at the legality... Are they not the
same? ... or at least similar in their practice?
