Look at it this way, 53% are against Royal! The winner takes it all when the executive power is elected, proportional representation is secured in the legislative.

Socialist in the French context i suppose? The argument usually goes like this: "x% of the residents weren't allowed to vote, x% didn't vote, x% did vote for other candidates, so the winner doesn't represent the majority!"
