I was going to post something about this as I had a friend in Japan who used this for her baby. It was a good thing she had no carpets.

I was really bothered about the garbage created by disposable diapers when my 1st baby was born so I used cloth ones, initially. It was a ton of work, all that washing. Going out was such a hassle that I found myself using disposables when I knew we were going out. Eventually I just gave up on the cloth diapers. Years ago there was a diaper service that picked up the soiled cloth diapers. Perhaps if that were still around I might never have gone to the disposables.
