If you are just a business traveller I dont know how someone could tell you it is OK to travel or be in the Schengen territory with an expired visa. Am sorry to say this but I guess you have landed yourself in quite a bit of trouble.

To answer your question yes you are going to be asked a lot of questions when you apply for your next Schengen visa from any consulate.
