I am not sure about other parts of Germany, but when in Hessen our paediatrician prescribed fluoride plus vitamin D tablets for both my kids from the time the first teeth came through. D -Fluoretten made by Aventis.

It is not recommended to use a toothpaste with fluoride and take the tablets so we used Weleda kinderzahngel.

Since we moved I have continued to get both the tablets and toothpaste here in Zurich with no problems....

I would much rather do it this way as at least I know what dose of fluoride they are receiving rather than trying to convince a 1 year old to spit out the toothpaste after brushing...
