Re: Typically Swiss christmas Cards

The Manor department store in Morges has a reasonable range, you may find something there. Last year was our first Christmas and we wanted much the same thing - can't recall if there were Swiss chalets and stuff, but definitely 'Happy Christmas' and so on in French, which the rellies liked as they could pop the card on the mantlepiece and do the whole: 'That one? Oh, it's from my son, he's got a job in Switzerland, whole family's moved out there, grandchildren are practically bilingual now, etc etc, swank swank').

Cards don't seem the big thing over here that they are in the UK, much to my relief - I always felt slightly stupid doing the school-gate handing over routine, where you give a card to someone you see every day anyway, and opted out of it in recent times. To me, cards are a way of keeping in touch with old friends, writing a personal message, sending a sheet of photos of the kids, etc, not just writing 'To Bob and Kim, from Mary and David', handing it over, then waiting expectantly for your one in return.
