I'm posting this over a Bluetooth DUN connection to the Milestone - so yes, tethering is definitely a go. Just grab yourself an app called "PDAnet" from the Market and connect to it. I tried this using Windows 7 - works like a charm. PDAnet comes as a 30-day trial version. After 30 days, only HTTP connections will work (ok for web browsing). The full version is 29$

I bought the Milestone at an O2 shop in Germany (live right next to the border) for 481€ + Swiss tax (I was honest and declared it). Digitec is cheaper I think - but I figured it's easier for me to get support directly from O2, should the device break in the future.
